What is the certification procedure for Green Globes Sustainable Interiors?
Step 1. Complete the Construction Documents self-assessment questionnaire. To assist the verifier, you must ensure that for each criterion, you have clearly referenced where the supporting data is found in drawings, specifications, modellings, plans or other working documents. For example, if the project has low flow water fixtures, then you must indicate in the space provided, where the verifier must look to find the supporting documentation – e.g. in “Specification Section 22 42 02, Plumbing Fixtures,” or “Plumbing equipment schedule”.
Step 2. When you are satisfied with your responses in the Construction Documents assessment, “submit” the completed self-assessment questionnaire. This is done from the “Survey Completion” page, which in accessed from the left-hand menu within the self-assessment questionnaire. You will be asked to confirm that your responses have been reviewed by all appropriate team members. Also, if you have not answered all questions (i.e. if “Completion” is still showing as less than 100% and the Survey Completion page is still indicating pages on which unanswered questions remain), then you will be asked to confirm that you really wish to submit an incomplete survey for review. Once you have checked the necessary confirmation boxes, click the “Submit Survey for Verifier Review” button. Once your completed self-assessment questionnaire has been submitted for review, you will no longer be able to change any of your answers.
Step 3. E-mail Info@GreenGlobes.com to indicate that your project is ready for certification. Green Globes administration will review your completed self-assessment questionnaire, and you will be contacted regarding verification and assigned a Verifier. If there are any problems with your submission, Green Globes administration will discuss these with you, and you may need to update and re-submit it. (i.e. repeat step 2).
There is an additional cost for verification and certification, for which you will be invoiced at this point - see Cost.
Step 4. Send supporting documentation (in electronic format) to your assigned Verifier. Supporting documentation includes: drawings, specifications, minutes of integrated design meetings, environmental product declarations, lighting design report etc. See Supporting Documentation for a full list.
Step 5. The Verifier reviews your design submissions and completes the Construction Documents (Verifier) survey, giving a Green Globes rating based upon a review of the design.
Step 6. You receive the initial Green Globes Design Certification document. This is a preliminary certification of the Design.
Step 7. When the project has been constructed, complete and submit the Post-construction self-assessment questionnaire. When you are satisfied that your responses are accurate, submit the Post-construction self-assessment questionnaire for review. This is done from the “Survey Completion” page, which is accessed from the left-hand menu within the survey. You will be asked to confirm that your responses have been reviewed by all appropriate team members. Also, if you have not answered all questions in the self-assessment questionnaire (i.e. if Completion is still showing as less than 100% and the Survey Completion page is still indicating pages on which unanswered questions remain), then you will be asked to confirm that you really wish to submit an incomplete survey for review. Once you have checked the necessary confirmation boxes, click the “Submit Survey for Verifier Review” button. Once your survey has been submitted for review, you will no longer be able to change any of your answers.
Step 9. Additional supporting documentation relating to the construction may be required for further verification for example, Commissioning.
Step 10. The Verifier reviews your Post-construction submission and completes the Post-construction (Verifier) survey, giving a final Green Globes rating.
Step 11. You receive the final Green Globes Design Sustainable Interiors certification document.
Step 12. You may order a glass plaque directly from the supplier - Ordering Green Globes Plaques.
How is the 3rd party Verification conducted?
Once payment and the completed assessment and supporting documentation have been received, a designated third-party Verifier reviews the completed Green Globes online self-assessment questionnaire and cross-references it with the supporting documentation as indicated by the user in the assessment. In order to verify the criteria, it is important to indicate where the supporting data is found. For example, if the project meets the criteria for low flow water fixtures, then you must indicate in the space provided in the survey, where the supporting documentation is found – e.g. “in Specification Section 22 42 02 Plumbing Fixtures, or in a plumbing equipment schedule.” Having reviewed the supporting documentation, the Verifier then prepares and issues a report and a Green Globes rating.
Verifiers are sustainability experts with significant experience in design, engineering, energy analysis/management, commissioning and construction and who have undergone Verifier training.
